   APRIL 2012 | Korea Tour with the Royal Academy Soloists

Jack has just completed a highly successful collaboration directing the Royal Academy of Music's elite string ensemble, the Royal Academy Soloists.  They travelled to South Korea and performed several times including a concert in Seoul Arts Center.  

Along the way they met up with the Her Majesties UK Ambassador and Deputy Prime-Minister Nick Clegg at a Best of British event held by the British Embassy.

   APRIL 2011 | Australian debut and interviews

Jack made a highly successful debut with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra in Brisbane's QPAC on April 9th performing Dvorak's Violin Concerto (recorded for ABC radio).

   MARCH 2011 | Jane Eyre Soundtrack to be released on SONY

Jack featured as soloist in the soundtrack of the new film of ["Jane Eyre"]. The soundtrack, written by Oscar winning composer Dario Marianelli, will be released on March 8th in the USA by Sony Classical. The film is directed by Cary Fukunaga and stars Mia Wasikowska, Michael Fassbender, Jamie Bell and Dame Judi Dench.

The "Independent" newspaper on Friday January 28th contains an [article] on the "Einstein's Universe" lectures Jack has been giving with Professor Brian Foster of Oxford University.

   FEBRUARY 2011 | BBC In Tune performance

On Wednesday Feb 2nd Jack appears on the BBC Radio 3 ["In Tune"] programme with pianist [Katya Apekisheva] and Professor Brian Foster to discuss their performance at [St John's Smith Square] on February 4th.

   JANUARY 2011 | Gramophone Article, review and concert date

The February Gramophone magazine features an article on the lectures Jack has been giving with Professor Brian Foster of Oxford University since 2005. "Einstein's Universe" and "Superstrings", linking Einstein's love of the violin with his science and its development in the Large Hadron Collider at CERN, have now been given to more than 20,000 people. There will be a performance, plus a recital of the complete Brahms Sonatas by Jack and Katya Apekisheva, at [St John's Smith Square] on February 4th. Information on the lectures can be found [here].  

In the same edition is a review of the Fib's recording of the Schubert Octet which concludes "This is chamber music playing of the highest order, enriched immeasurably by the violin playing of leader Jack Liebeck."

   NOVEMBER 2010 | Competition Finalist

The [Australian Broadcasting Corporation] in conjunction with [Limelight] magazine are running a competition for the best classical performances in Australia in 2010. An expert panel comprising Limelight and ABC Classic FM Staff has selected a shortlist of entries for 11 musical categories. Jack's performance in the [Australian Festival of Chamber Music] in the "With Strings Attached" concert, which was broadcast by ABC Classic FM, has been nominated for best chamber music performance.    NOVEMBER 2010 | Professor at the Royal Academy of Music

The Royal Academy of Music has [announced] that Jack will be joining the Faculty as Professor of Violin in September 2011.

Jack was broadcast live on Saturday, July 31st, at 8.00pm Australian time by the Australian Broadcasting Corperation's [Classic FM] from the [Australian Festival of Chamber Music] in Townsville. The new edition of the Penguin Guide to Recorded Classical Music 2010 adds to the three entries already accorded to Jack's debut CD by giving his new Dvorak CD the highest classification - 4 stars, the only featured recording of the Violin Concerto to achieve this - and designates it a key recording.    AUGUST 2009 | Saint-Saens Broadcast

Jack's performance of the Saint-Saens' Fantasie for Violin & Harp with harpist Sebastien Lipman was broadcast live from the Australian Festival of Chamber Music in Townsville, Queensland, by the Australian Broadcasting Company's [Classic FM] on August 6th. Many of Jack's other performances have been recorded by ABC and will be broadcast over the next few months.

Jack has signed an exclusive recording contract with Sony Music Entertainment UK. His first release on the Sony Classical label featuring Works by Dvorák is scheduled for a May 2009 Release. Read more [here].

   FEBRUARY 2009 | Frank Bridge Piano Trio CD

New CD release - Jack has teamed up with pianist Ashley Wass and cellist Alex Chaushian on the [Naxos] label on a CD featuring Frank Bridge's two Piano Trios as well as 9 of his Miniatures for Piano Trio.

   DECEMBER 2008 | Lindberg Concerto with SCO

Jack's performances of the Lindberg Concerto with the [Scottish Chamber Orchestra] have received high critical praise [Read review]. The Scottish premier, performed in Glasgow City Halls on December 12th, will be broadcast on BBC Radio 3 on January 13th.

   NOVEMBER 2008 | Two Radio 3 Recordings

Jack is recording twice for BBC Radio 3 in November, both for the "Discovering Music" series. The first performance is with [Manchester Camerata] on November 8th, when Jack and Martin Roscoe will play the Berg Chamber Concerto at the RNCM. The second recording is shortly thereafter, on November 12th also in Manchester, this time in the Bridgwater Hall; Jack will lead players from the Fibonacci Sequence in Messiaen's great "Quartet for the End of Time".

   JULY 2008 | Chausson Concert broadcast for ABC

Jack played the Chausson Concert for violin, piano and string quartet on an Australian Broadcasting Corporation live broadcast from the [Australian Chamber Music Festival]. Further concerts, including Jack playing the Chausson "Poeme" and Messiaen "Theme and variations", are being recorded for future broadcast on ABC.

   JUNE 2008 | QEH review in The Strad

Jack's recital at the Queen Elizabeth Hall with Katya Apekisheva has received another excellent review, this time in the July issue of "The Strad" magazine. [Read review]...

   MAY 2008 | Lindberg Attends Concerto Performance

Jack's performance of the Lindberg Concerto on May 29th met with the approval of the composer himself. Magnus Lindberg was in the audience in the Grieg Hall in Bergen when Jack played with the Oslo Philharmonic under Jukka-Pekka Saraste as part of the Bergen Festival. The concert was recorded for broadcast on Norwegian radio.

   MAY 2008 | Linberg Concerto with Royal Stockholm Philharmonic

Jack performed the Lindberg Concerto with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra under new chief conductor, Sakari Oramo, to great acclaim on May 15th. He will give the Norwegian premiere of the same work with the Oslo Philharmonic under Jukka-Pekka Saraste in the Greig Hall in Bergen on May 29th.

   MAY 2008 | Oxford May Music draws to a close

Jack's new festival, Oxford May Music, ended on May 5th, after 6 exciting days attended by a total of around 1000 people. The events, mixing lectures on science, literature and music with evening concerts from some of the UK's finest musicians, were enthusiastically received. Plans are already well underway for the next festival, which will take place from April 29th - May 4th, 2009.

   DECEMBER 2007 | Einstein's Fiddle on Radio 4

Jack appears on "Einstein's Fiddle" on BBC Radio 4, talking and playing Bach. Listen at 14:45 GMT on Sunday, December 9th; or a recording will be available on the Radio 4 web site player for a week after transmission.

   OCTOBER 2007 | 2007-2008 Season Plans

Jack's 2007-8 season promises to be very exciting - a recording for BBC Radio 3 with pianist Ashley Wass, his US Concerto debut with the Indianapolis Symphony, recital debuts in the Queen Elizabeth Hall and in the Sheldonian Theatre with Ashley Wass. The latter is part of a new festival, Oxford May Music, of which Jack is the Artistic Director. Jack will also be performing the Lindberg Concerto with the Orquesta Pablo Sarasate in Spain. More details on these and other events will be available soon.
